Tim Dunkley

Tim Dunkley

Tim Dunkley is a World Snooker Association coach based at Chandler’s Ford Snooker Club in Hampshire. He lives in Southampton with his wife of 26 years. One of his two sons, Alex, used to compete on the EASB Premier Junior Tour.

Chandler’s Ford SC is home to some of the country’s finest young players. In the 2009/10 season, we have four past or present members on the EASB Premier Junior Tour (including the phenomenal Shane Castle), three on the EASB Regional Junior Tour and Suzie Opacic, currently ranked sixth on the World Ladies Billiards & Snooker Association.

Tim was taught by Ronnie O’Sullivan’s former coach Del Hill and passed his exams at the same time as fellow MaXimumbreak coach Gavin York, Terry Griffith’s son Wayne and 2008 European Masters champion Alan Trigg.

A freelance writer, Tim has been writing for MaXimumbreak since 2007. He is press officer for the World Ladies Billiards & Snooker Association and the South of England Cuestars. And he writes a weekly snooker page for his local paper, the Southern Daily Echo.

“Players who practise can improve without coaching,” says Tim. “But a coach can instantly spot and correct things that a player will never notice in their own game.”

Tim charges £15 an hour, which includes a written assessment - and table light if the session is at Chandler’s Ford, and is willing to travel. He charges a special rate of £10 for junior members of Chandler’s Ford SC.
