Snooker Coaching With Gavin York

Gavin York – Northampton, Northamptonshire

Gavin York is a qualified WPBSA coach as well as being an official Terry Griffiths Coach. He is based in Northampton and has been playing since the age of 16. Gavin had to learn to play the game himself as there was a lack of coaching and tournaments around at that time. His aim is to build the game up locally and he organises tournaments at his local club at Barratts in Northampton. He hopes that by doing this and by coaching players of all ages and abilities he will give players the opportunities he never had.

Gavin has been coaching for 4 years and became a coach after other players started asking him questions about their technique. This made him realise that other players respected his views and thoughts. He has read many articles on coaching and has spoken to some of the best and well known coaches about their ideas on the game. Gavin has used these ideas as well as his own experiences as the basis for his coaching. He still plays the game as much as possible and captains the 'Jolly Potters' league team. Last season they won the division title and he made the division's top break. On the coaching side he has coached beginners right up to players who have played for England.

Coaching is priced at £15 per hour for under 16's and £20 per hour for adults.

Prices include the table costs and sessions are held in a private room.

Gavin will also coach groups.
