Gavin York

Gavin York – Northampton, Northamptonshire

Gavin York first started playing snooker at the age of 15. Steady improvements lead to a desire to learn about the technical side of the game. Unfortunately, health problems forced Gavin to look into an alternate career from his routine office job. In 2006, Gavin became an official snooker coach for World Snooker. Gavin cites the great Frank Callan as a coach who provided him with the inspiration to get into snooker coaching himself.

He currently coaches at Barratts Snooker Club in Northampton with players traveling from around the Midlands area and also from Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire. Gavin states "I believe that everyone can benefit from snooker coaching and I have taught juniors from 10 years of age up to adults in their 60´s".

Since his coach qualification, Gavin has racked up over 250 coaching hours and, in doing so, has helped many players with their games and is coaching some promising juniors. He continues to play the game and has made centuries at my local club as well as competing in local competitions.

Gavin is available to coach locally at the Barratts Snooker Club but can travel, subject to being reimbursed his expenses. Rates start at £20 per hour.
